Recently, more and more companies are turning to personality tests when deciding where employees should work: at home, at the office, or a hybrid combination of both. Personality tests are one method that some organizations are turning to in the hopes of helping their employees determine what kind of remote work schedule they would like to adopt: fully, on-site, or a hybrid combination of the two.
According to The New York Times, “Psychologists have identified what’s known as the “Big Five” personality traits, which are consistent across populations: extroversion, openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism. Two traits in particular play a powerful role in shaping workplace behavior: Extroversion, the degree to which social interaction energizes someone; and openness which refers to someone’s creativity and appetite for novel experiences. I designed the quiz with these traits in mind.”
What are some of the personality tests companies are implementing?
Below, we provide a list of some of the most popular personality tests that organizations are currently using to make remote work decisions. Take a look:

Now, it’s also worth mentioning that these personality tests are not only beneficial for remote work decisions, but also in putting together a team. In fact, many companies (like APC) implement things like the StregnthsFinder 2.0 book based on the CliftonStrengths test by Don Clifton. We present this to our new hires to get a better understanding of how they will fit into the team they’re joining.
