Do you remember the search engine, Bing? The engine known by some as “Because it’s not Google”? Well, Microsoft just relaunched their search engine this week. The biggest change to the relaunch is that the new Bing is powered by A.I., more specifically, Open A.I., the company in charge of the widely popular chatbot, ChatGPT.
According to the New York Times, “the Bing relaunch is especially momentous for Microsoft, which has struggled to gain a foothold in search for years. If it works, it could chip away at Google’s dominance and some of the more than $100 billion in annual search advertising revenue that comes with it.”
What to Know: The Relaunch of Bing
- Right now, the new Bing is only available to testers.
- Experts are comparing the relaunch to that of a typical search engine and a GPT-style chatbot mixed.
- It can follow prompts and commands like, “Create a menu for my Thanksgiving party,” while simultaneously pulling up relevant ads to help you accomplish your desired goals.
- As of today, Bing will only work on Edge, but the company is looking at ways to expand to other browsers.
