The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released its most recent employment statistics for January data. At the start of the year, we see significant gains in employment. Along with the drop in unemployment, the U.S. added 517,000 jobs. This practically doubled economists’ predictions, says Chase Bank. Additionally, the unemployment rate sunk to its lowest since 1969.
According to the New York Times, “The increase was the largest since July, and it drew exclamations from economists steeped in labor market trends, who had been expecting another month of gradual cooling.”
