Financial concerns are pushing many retirees out of retirement. However, according to ASA’s Workforce Monitor Survey, 14% of retirees are looking for or are open to a new job opportunity. A significant driver of these new candidates is recent inflation seen across industries.
According to StaffingHub, “In terms of what retirees would want in a job, their preferences are similar to the existing workforce: 41% would want a flexible schedule, and 35% would want to work remotely full-time.”
Primary Driver for Retirees Rejoining the Workforce
- Inflation
- Social Security as the primary or only source of income
American Staffing Association President and Chief Executive Officer says, “When more retirees need additional income and employers need their expertise and experience, older workers continue to face hiring barriers. Employers that embrace flexibility and diversity across their entire workforces will be more productive and have higher levels of employee engagement.”
