Technical Challenge
The end users’ SQL code either would take an excessive amount of time or more likely would fail due to exceeding available resources, thus severely impacting their analytic capability.
Solution
Worked directly with the end-users to not only ‘fix’ the SQL to successfully finish, but also to mentor the users on approaches to writing SQL that would eliminate future issues.
Results
Not only was existing COVID reporting able to proceed, but more importantly, new business analytics could be performed by the ‘mentored’ users. Achieved the larger goal of not just fixing the flawed SQL but educating the users to make them more capable of successfully performing their analysis.
